Details 4 Scale “Mini Watt Plus” Nav Light Controller Instructions

Instructions for use:

The Mini Watt Plus Nav Light system is designed to supply your sport model with the ultimate in lighting essentials. There are 2) 1 Watt strobe outputs, 2) 1 watt landing light outputs, 1 each, 1 watt red/green wingtip light outputs, 2 additional 1 watt fixed lighting outputs and 2 Standard High Output Led ports for low level lighting, ie: (cockpit lighting).

Programming Features include: adjustable strobe rate output, fully adjustable thru the 2 trimmer pots, one rx input port usually connected to the landing gear receiver output via a "Y" connector to control the on/off feature of the landing lights. One programmable servo output connected to the input with it's own directional and ATV output controls (fully programmable). This feature is useful for lowering retractable landing lights with a servo or valve/servo/piston combo.

The Nav light system is designed to operate from 1) 1200 MAH 2 cell (6.6volt) A123 type battery. A 12amp Molex connector M/F pair is included with the system. The separate female pigtail is for charging the batteries.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE CONNECTING ANY WIRES TO THE CONTROLLER!!!

Controller Connections:

Each set of High Watt  lighting connector pins (right side of controller) are polarized with the positive (colored wire) on the upper pin with the (white) negative terminal on the lower pin of each set. The port outputs are as follows:

RIGHT SIDE OF CONTROLLER:                           LEFT SIDE OF CONTROLLER

Each port on the Right Side of the controller is a pair of vertically aligned pins

(positive/colored lead goes on top, ground/white lead goes on bottom)

From left to right

Ports 1-2: 1 watt landing lights (this port is controlled by the gear input programming)

Ports 3-6: 1 watt fixed lighting ( always on)

Ports 7-9: 1 watt strobe lights (adjustable using the 2 trimmer pots)

Port 10: programming block required for the servo out function, ie: retractable lights, etc...

Left Side of controller left to right:

Battery power leads,  Gear In (top port signal lead on left), Gear Out (bottom port signal lead on left)

2 vertical pin sets: Standard High power LEDs. Color lead on right) NO 1 WATT PLUG-INS HERE!!!!!

NOTE*** The male to male connector comes pre-installed into the Gear IN port, the opposite RX end should be plugged into a "Y" from the retract channel on the receiver. If you are NOT using the “Retract Out” function ie: retractable landing lights, remove the black programming block from port #9 on the right side of the controller.

Programming the landing lights:

Turn on the transmitter and place the gear switch in the “UP” position, Press and hold SW1 on the front of the controller (you’ll need a small screwdriver to depress the recessed switch button), With SW1 pressed, turn on the receiver and then release the button. The red light on the front of the controller will turn on solid red for approx. 3 seconds while the memory resets. When the light starts blinking slowly, press and release sw1. This will set the gear switch “UP” in the memory of the controller. When the red light starts blinking faster, move the gear switch on the transmitter to the “DOWN” position and press sw1 again. This sets the gear switch “DOWN” position in the controller memory. NOTE:If you are using the Servo Out function, follow the instructions bellow immediately. If not, and you have the landing lights plugged in, they should be on. Flipping the gear switch to the “UP’ position will turn them off. That’s it.

Troubleshooting: If the landing lights are not functioning correctly, here are the 2 main causes:

The ATV’s for the gear switch are too high. Lower both the “UP” and “DOWN” ATVs on the transmitter.

If you are using the Futaba 2.4 system, you will need an amplifier for the gear input or simply run the input fro the powerbox instead of the “Y” from the receiver.

Programming the output servo ATVs:

The Red light should be solid on.  Using the ADJ1 pot, adjust the output servo(s) to the retractable light “UP” position. Press and release SW1.  The red light will go out for a second. When the red light is lit again, move the ADJ1 pot and adjust the retractable lights to the “DOWN” position, then press and release SW1 again. If everything has programmed correctly, the red light will blink 4X to signify that the programming is complete. You can now raise, lower and turn the lights on and off when the landing gear switch is moved.

Adjusting the strobe rate:

Begin by turning the left (ADJ1 strobe pot), the strobe “ON” duration time is adjusted. The left pot (ADJ2) controls the length of time the strobe stays off between flashes. There is a built in 1 second delay between actual strobes regardless of the actual strobe rate. Try to adjust the strobe until there is almost a “double strobe” effect between strobe cycles.

NOTE: NEVER TURN BOTH STROBE ADJUST POTS TO ALLOW  THE LIGHTS TO STAY ONE CONTANTLY.  The strobe ports are VERY HIGH OUTPUT PORTS (1+ amps each), designed only for strobes. If left on WITHOUT STROBING, the EMMITERS will overheat and fail VERY quickly!!!
